About Laurie Knight

I was raised in an organized household. My mother helped me to appreciate the importance of organization and how happy we can be if we simply spend a small amount of our energy on small tasks in order to avoid the much bigger daunting tasks that often creep up and suck the life out of us. This lesson has served me well in life. Little did I know I would be passionate about teaching some of these same concepts to others down the road.
Disorganization costs us time and energy. It creates the inability for us to be at our most effective and increases stress and the potential for burnout. These are things we may not realize are slowing us down as much as they are. For example, rushing in the morning to find the socks in the dryer/ scrambling for a quick meal/ rummaging through the pile on the desk to pay the bills at the last minute. I could go on and on… yet these are only a few of the things that take time away from our personal lives and often prevent us from creating the life we truly desire. Before we know it, life has passed us by and we’re wondering what happened to those dreams. I’m not about to let that happen to me or to you!
I stumbled upon this “life coach” thing after years of working in the mental health field as a therapist with adolescents and families. I was inspired initially to pursue the mental health profession due to having to endure the death of a parent at a young age and struggling for years to figure out how to express my feelings and not hide from my pain.
I was blessed to have a mentor early in my training who introduced me to the concepts of solution focused therapy, which drew me to a more future focused goal oriented approach to working with people in my therapy and coaching practice. It was such an amazing gift, and so freeing while teaching me the ability to be empathetic with my clients, yet not feeling sorry for them and allowing them be stuck in victim mode. I supported people in becoming more empowered and developing the confidence to recognize they are in charge of their own lives regardless of circumstances. Most have appreciated the tough love!
I was certified through Coach Training Alliance program, which is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). But I have to say the best training I ever received was from my amazing coaches and mentors giving me permission to be myself in an authentic way.
I have many passions in life, two of which I’m most committed: helping others and music. As a singer, pianist , and songwriter since childhood, I knew I loved music and how it made me feel. However, I was scared to death to share it or sing in public. Never in a million years did I think I would be performing in front of hundreds or thousands of people in my life. I’m never perfect and still get nervous, yet I know I can do it and it’s worth it everytime.
Throughout my various musical experiences, I was given the opportunity to record my Debut album in Nashville TN with some of the most amazing musicians I never thought I’d ever get to meet. I was able to carefully select or write all the songs on the album specifically to encourage self discovery and awareness. I’ve learned how to incorporate my love of music and helping others into a business that serves and inspires young women to do the same in their own lives. I would be honored to help you organize your life, tap into your unique passions and succeed in an amazing way. I look forward to getting to know you!
