About Laurie
I have many passions in life but two of the biggest are: Helping others and Music. I've always had this gnawing feeling that I need to do more... need to do more... Need to find a way to fit these two things together and I think I've done it. I was blessed with the opportunity to record my first motivational solo album in August 2007 with an award winning singer/ songwriter/ producer Eddie Kilgallon in Nashville TN. I carefully selected each song that has special meaning to me and to how I want to live my life. I recorded 2 of my original songs that I wrote years ago long before I ever knew what "coaching" was. Now when I listen to "To be Happy" I realize that learning and pushing myself has always been part of me and that settling in any respect was never an option. We have our own answers, but may need help discovering them. A lyric in one of my songs is "my instincts have rarely been wrong". That was true for me and I learned early on how to listen to that "gut" language and use it to my benefit.
I hold a clinical license in Social Work in both the state of Kansas (LSCSW) and Missouri (LCSW). I became a Certified Professional Coach through the Coach Training Alliance program (CTACC) in 2005, which is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I am an active member of the local ICF Chapter the Heartland Coaches Association and have had the opportunity to train further in DISC profiling. DISC is a tool that is very useful in helping individuals and teams to function more successfully by offering additional ways of understanding their own personality traits and communication styles.
I have been working in mental health as a child and family therapist since 1998. If you chose to review any of the articles provided on the "What is Coaching" link, you will see that coaches are not required to hold any kind of license at this time. This will likely change in the near future. However, since it is not regulated as closely as other helping professions, it essential for potential clients to know a coach's background and credentials in order to pursue the right coaching relationship for them.
I want to share with my audience an inspiration behind my coaching business. Below is a picture of me as a young, vibrant, and energetic child. I've treasured this photograph and have had it hung in my home for as long as I can remember. I have learned to live this way again... laughing everyday, enjoying my many blessings, continuing to grow and evolve, and knowing that with focus this is indeed possible for anyone.
Think of a time like this for yourself or imagine what you've always wanted to feel like! Demand for this or something like it in your own life. No excuses!!

I don't think the English Language has a one perfect word to describe Laurie but a few come to mind right away: Talented, Contagious, High Energy, Committed and above all, Inspirational. There is even more to Laurie, she has a deep soul and cares about those with whom she becomes involved. Laurie never hesitated when we asked her to perform at our son's fundraiser. Laurie blessed us by writing and performing a beautiful original song about our son JJ at his benefit. I was deeply moved.
